About
This course and reflective tool was developed by Jemima Kingsley, a coach and 4th dan taekwondo instructor, as part of an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology at the University of East London.
The course is based on the science of learning, motivation, and wellbeing, and is designed to be practical and applicable to all martial arts instructors. It attempts to address the problem of burnout in martial arts instructors, alongside the common issue of instructors having to learn how to teach "on the job". Instructors are often short of time, so the course and tool tries to be quick to implement, offering a lot of value in a short amount of time, helping instructors develop a productive reflective practice that can help them learn fast from their own experience.
The tool draws on research and theories around reflective practice and learning. It is designed to be used alongside the course, but can also be used on its own as a way to build a reflective practice and get insights from your teaching.
If you want to know more about the science behind the course and tool or have any technical questions, please get in touch.
Jemima is also available for coaching and consulting work to help martial arts schools and instructors develop a reflective practice, or build their schools and improve their teaching. Jemima can be reached at support@blackbelt-thinking.co.uk.
